The founders & members
A very special team around Dr Karola Simoni & Dr Nobert Kuner takes care of the impossible: whether Anke Grützediek as an organisational talent & administrative genius (German tour operator), Bianka Eigenbrodt with a double heart effect, Monika Reinhartz as a fairy (bookshop/ service centre Costa Calma), David Sarnow as Mister Shopping (Fuerte Royal Real Estate), Dr. Norbert Kuner as the financial juggler & Dr Karola Simoni as the children's heart ruler (Dr Karola Simoni & Söhne practice) - the rescuers in need support families and children on Fuerteventura.
The name giver
Silvia was the childhood friend of little Karola Simoni, who was also suffering from cancer at the time. A girl's friendship against the disease, against unfriendly doctors and the cold world of the hospital, which was to last forever and which in the end ended with Silvia's lost battle. We dedicate the foundation to this strong and cheerful child who faced death and fear with a smile.
Help, donate & support
We are grateful every day for all the kind donations that ‘la Caja de la pequeña Silvia’ aka ‘Poor Children's Fund Fuerteventura’ receives! We are a small group that has to scrutinise every donation request for need. We can only step in to provide bridging aid and cannot alleviate permanent hardship. We are therefore only able to provide support depending on the amount of donations we receive.
Help us so that we can help
We are always surprised and grateful when people approach us and spontaneously lighten their wallets. For the team at a medical practice, the warm-hearted and positive aspects of these people are a joyful gift in a working day that often involves difficult situations.
Help
We would like to take this opportunity to once again thank all the people who have supported not only our children's fund, but all our aid campaigns to date.
More about our campaigns
With the means at our disposal and those that will be made available to us in the future, we will try to bring a little help and a little care into the small world that surrounds us here.
‘LA Caja de la pequena Silvia’ in difficult times
With the help of committed friends, we have initiated the official establishment of a foundation and since June 2020 the ‘Poor Children's Fund Fuerteventura’ has been registered as an official ‘empresa sin lucro’ under the name ‘la caja de la pequena Silvia’. Above all, the situation is still one of the structurally weakest regions in Spain and the difficult times are a challenge for our donation fund to provide help on the ground in Fuerteventura, Canary Islands.
Beginnings of the ‘Poor Children's Fund Fuerteventura’
The story of the ‘Poor Children's Fund Fuerteventura’ began more than 15 years ago with a simple cardboard box on our desk. Our ‘tip box’ at the time was nothing more than a small gesture for the poorer patients in our practice. With the small amounts collected over the months, we financed small gifts for the children of single mothers. Here an entry to the zoo, there a pair of football boots or other mini treats to make the children happy.
A cardboard box grows up
Our cardboard box has now reached adulthood. With the help of committed friends, we have initiated the official establishment of a foundation and since June 2020, the "Poor Children's Fund Fuerteventura" is registered as an official "empresa sin lucro" under the name "la caja de la pequeña Silvia". This name, like so many things about this fundraiser, has a personal background. Silvia was the childhood friend of little Karola Simoni, who was also suffering from cancer at the time. A girl friendship against the disease and against unfriendly doctors and the cold world of the hospital was supposed to last forever, but finally ended with Silvia's lost fight. We dedicate the foundation to this strong and cheerful child who faced death and fear with laughter.

Our campaigns
‘La Caja de la pequeña Silvia’ is currently working at full speed! We receive donations from you almost every day and to date, our Anke Gruetzediek has been on the phone to the primary school, for example, to find out about their desperate situation or to families who have contacted us because they were no longer able to go shopping due to the circumstances surrounding Covid19 and lacked the basic necessities. Since this summer, the families are finally doing better and we can once again focus specifically on poor children. We are very pleased that there are only a few families left who are in an absolute emergency situation.
We can therefore use the donations in kind, such as books, pens etc., to focus on those children, e.g. in the Costa Calma school, who lack the materials. Who knows whether there might be a future scientist among the pupils, or an environmental engineer developing a ground-breaking new energy concept? Or a nurse who will help many people?
After we had to go shopping with families until summer 2021 and, thanks to you and paid directly with your donations, filled their empty fridges again for the first time and provided them with the essentials, we can now tackle the basic needs and wishes of poor children. To do this, we organise supervised shopping trips or distribute donations in kind, for example.Your donations will therefore go directly to those most in need and, above all, to poor children from now on. Now it's up to us to help. Piece by piece.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who have supported not only our children's fund, but all of our aid campaigns to date. We are happy to be where we are and happy to do what we can and have learnt to do.
Thank you very much!!
YOUR DONATIONS CREATE JOY!
